Scarlett Johansson swaps Los Angeles for Louisiana

Scarlett Johansson has swapped Los Angeles for rural Louisiana - the actress and her husband Ryan Reynolds are the proud new owners of a rustic farmhouse within the state.

The actress put her Hollywood Hills mansion on the marketplace for $5 million in February, amid rumors the couple was planning to live full-time in New York City, where they also own a property.

But now the Hollywood stars appear to have picked Louisiana as their base, while Reynold films his role in new superhero blockbuster "Green Lantern" within the region.

They have purchased a simple two-story farmhouse in Louisiana, complete having a rusty tin-roofed barn, according to Britain's Daily Mail.

Other stars to purchase property within the southern state consist of Sandra Bullock, who owns a large house in New Orleans, and Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who also boast a property in the Large Easy.

Lady Gaga has credited late entertainer Michael Jackson for her Platinum plus selling album "The Fame" but, not inside a musical way. According to Lady Gaga, Jackson and other celebrities who have died or ended up severely troubled in recent years are in part responsible for her fascination with death and destruction in Hollywood as depicted in videos like "Paparazzi".

Clarifying the word destroyed in relation to "The Fame" and perhaps Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga goes on to say "Whether self destroyed or destroyed by the media."

Due to the preview clip, released by 'Larry King Live' being cut off immediately following the statement, it's unclear regardless of whether Lady Gaga continues the discussion.

Dennis Hopper remembered in celebrity tweets

View Original Article
The past few days have been rough for celebrity news. One day following “Diff’rent Strokes’" star Gary Coleman passed, another death made the headlines: Dennis Hopper died at the age of 74 at his home in Venice, California.

Twitter, clearly one with the top methods of choice for celebrities to offer their reactions nowadays, was once again filled with “R.I.P.” messages, this time for the “Easy Rider” actor.

“R.I.P. Dennis Hopper. Man, I’m getting tired of typing those three letters,” wrote actor/comedian Michael McKean. Tom Green chose to keep in mind Hopper by tweeting a remark he created in an interview: “Somewhere in my strange career, someone has liked something.”

Filmmaker Greg Mottola chose to remember Hopper by recalling 1 with the actor's legendary portrayals, that of Frank Booth in 1986's "Blue Velvet."

English actor Simon Pegg also highlighted Hopper's breadth of work, cribbing a Hopper quote from 1979's “Apocalypse Now.” “Just heard we lost Dennis Hopper at 74. Excellent actor, sad loss,” Pegg wrote. “ ‘Sometimes he goes too far. He's the very first 1 to admit it.’ ”

“30 Rock” actress Elizabeth Banks and actor/comedian Steve Agee were in agreement on Saturday as they both tweeted, “R.I.P. Dennis Hopper. 1 of the great ones.”

Meanwhile, film critic Roger Ebert opted for a little humor: “Dennis Hopper was born in Dodge City, and man, did he ever get out of Dodge.”

Darren Devine explores tensions in celebrity relationships

View Source
Whether it’s singer Cheryl Cole and footballer husband Ashley or Hollywood golden few Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon, the shelf-life with the celebrity romantic relationship appears to be growing ever shorter. Darren Devine explores the tensions in relationships played out within the spotlight

It is ended as it began – within the full glare with the flash bulbs that seemed to capture every moment of Charlotte Church and Gavin Henson’s tempestuous five-year relationship.

Even before the few got with each other the world seemed to become watching – Church cheered from the sidelines as Henson converted the penalty that sealed Wales’ 2005 Grand Slam.

Just hours following that kick they met for that first time and would start a relationship that saw them marked out through the tabloids as Wales’ equivalent of David and Victoria Beckham.

And now, five years on, the pair have parted company.

Were they simply as well young, too well-known and too rich to survive existence as Wales’ most talked-about couple?

Or did Church’s return towards the stratosphere on television’s Over the Rainbow – while injury- wracked Henson’s career bumped along within the doldrums – also set further strain on a romantic relationship already at breaking point?

Publicity guru Max Clifford said a existence lived in a blinding spotlight that exposes a relationship’s every crack and fault line can prove as well a lot for many couples.

Mr Clifford, 67, said when he began his career his job involved promoting performers, but now it has switched to protecting them from an ever watchful media.

The publicist, who worked for EMI within the 1960s helping to promote the Beatles in their early days, said: “It’s pretty hard for any couple, particularly when each of them are well-known. In terms of associations there are times when things are really poor, but whatever has gone on is kept private.

“But if you are a star every thing is brought out into the public domain. When I began out in the 1960s with the Beatles my business was all about promotion. The main part of my function with stars now is protection.”

Mr Clifford mentioned celebrity couples can also find it difficult to survive if the career of one appears to be outstripping that with the other.

Celebrity associations are much more likely to endure if one partner goes into it as a complete unknown, like when Bourne Identity star Matt Damon married Miami barmaid Luciana Barroso in 2005.

Mr Clifford said: “The best chance in this kind of situation is when a single is a star and the other is completely unknown.

“The unknown, regardless of whether it is the husband or the wife, does 80% of the giving in that relationship.

“They adjust towards the fact that their husband or wife is a star and they put themselves second.

“Most with the effective relationships I’ve known with stars and their partners have succeeded because the partner does all the giving in the romantic relationship.”

The Welsh couple’s relationship may be the latest in a series of celebrity splits to hit the headlines over the last six months or so.

Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole filed for divorce after allegations Chelsea star husband Ashley had an affair with Liverpool Football Club secretary Vicki Gough.

Actress Sandra Bullock announced she and husband Jesse James were to split after five many years when he was pictured with an additional woman.

And last December Hollywood stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon decided to component.

It is been suggested Church, 24, wanted Henson at their Vale of Glamorgan house with their children Ruby, two, and Dexter, a single, while she launched her TV comeback on Over The Rainbow, and was angered by his appearance on the Norway-based reality television show 71 Degrees North.

Romantic relationship psychologist Angela Niblett said celebrity couples struggle to maintain their individual lives as successful as their careers simply because work usually takes priority for both parties.

Cambridge-based Mrs Niblett said: “Our society gives no value to deeper associations formed following some years together.

“It’s all tinsel and romance and superficial stuff. How often do you hear about individuals who’ve been married for 40 many years and how fantastic that's? Our culture just doesn’t appreciate that. It is attachment and closeness and intimacy. Should you take Cheryl and Ashley Cole, what intimacy could they have possibly had simply because they were apart all the time? They had been each working.

“If you are both off chasing careers then you’re not together – and that does not just go for celebrities, it goes for that average individual within the street.

“Our culture says you can have two full-time careers and children and do every thing else, but really you can’t because some thing has to give.”

Mrs Niblett does not believe the couple’s relative youth when they met – she was 19 he 23 – meant they were always going to hit problems.

She said: “I’m a bit older now, but most of my friends had married through the time they had been 21 and an awful lot stayed with each other.

“Getting married at 30 does not make any distinction compared with getting married at 20.”
